Irish Life Experience
The Irish Life Experience is a 26-day summer program introducing North American students to the characteristics and qualities of Irish life. This year’s program is from June 28-July 23, 2026 and consists of a wide variety of classes, workshops, and tours based in a variety of locations throughout Ireland.
Each year, the Daughters of Erin, the Shamrock Club, and the Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation, sponsor one student to participate in this program and pay nearly all expenses; that is, round-trip airfare from Boston to Ireland, room and board, tuition, group tours, transportation, and activities. Personal items such as souvenirs and snacks are not included. There will occasionally be optional activities offered at an additional cost, such as amusement park rides, concerts, and movies. The student/student’s family is responsible for paying for transportation to and from Columbus and Boston.
CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION
The program is open to both male and female students who have graduated from the eighth grade and are entering high school after the program through students graduating high school just before the program begins.
To apply for the Irish Life Experience program, an applicant must know a member of the any Clann na nGael organization in Columbus. Organizations include the Ancient Order of Hibernians Patrick Pearse Division, Columbus Comhaltas, Daughters of Erin, Emerald Society of Columbus, Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation, Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and Shamrock Club of Columbus.

Once awardee has been selected, he/she will copy/paste application details into the online ILE application.
