About the Daughters of Erin

Our patron saint is Saint Brigid. The cross that you see throughout our pages is the St. Brigid's cross. It was used to convert pagans to Christianity. Irish tradition brings the idea of offsetting sickness and invoking good luck on the occupants of the house in which the saint's cross is hung. Because of its popularity in Irish homes, Irish TV chose it as its official emblem.

Through our events and activities we are able to raise money to further our charitable work. Each year at Thanksgiving and Christmas we adopt several families and make sure they have a happy holiday. At Easter we prepare baskets for the those in need. We have contributed to many Central Ohio, national and international non-profit organizations including: Special People in Catholic Education (SPICE), A Kid Again, Growler's Dog Bones, Goodwill Art Studio, Heroes United, I Support the Girls,  Very Own Blanket, Reaching for the Shining Starz, Dreams On Horseback, Columbus Historical Society, National Veterans Memorial, FOCUS, Bestbuddies.org, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Ohio, Ohio Health Hospice - Kobaker House, Alicia's Closet, Brian Muha Foundation, Save our Adolescents from Prostitution (SOAP), Be Legendary LLC, Saints Alive, The Royals Project, Columbus Division of Police Explorers Program, Dominican Sisters of Peace (human trafficking), Pregnancy Decision Health Center (education and counseling), Fairy Goodmothers, Helping Hands @ Peace United Methodist Church, Columbus Blessing Boxes Project, Friends of Faith Pruden Foundation, Fleur's Dream Homeless Outreach, Grove and Franklin Heights Special Olympics, Camp Lionheart for Kids, Catch Court, Columbus Diaper Bank, Neighborhood Bridges, Kayleigh's Cause, Kobocker Hospice, Honor Flight, Moms2B, Choices, Christo Rey High School, Flying Horse Farms, Team Heart and Sole, Dominican Home Health Care, Holy Rosary Center For Women, Holy Family Soup Kitchen, Equestrian Therapy, Columbus Christ Child, Irish Political Prisoners Children's Holiday, St. Stephen's Respite, Salesian Boys and Girls Club and Pilot Dogs of Central Ohio.
